COVID-19 Protocols

 COVID-19

Dentists and dental teams have been experts at infection control for a long time. As we navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic in BC, dental patients have an important role to play in keeping everyone safe.

We ask our patients to contact our office in advance of any visit and advise us if you:

  • Are feeling unwell
  • Have any COVID-19 symptoms such as fever, chills, cough, loss of sense of smell or taste, or difficulty breathing
  • Have had close contact or have been in isolation with a suspected case
  • Have travelled outside of Canada in the last 14 days

Further, we require that our patients:

  • Complete a patient screening form in advance of your visit
  • Sanitize your hands upon arrival at the clinic
  • Limit your wait time in the office by arriving as close to your appointment time as possible
  • Wait outside the office if you have arrived early or if you are accompanying another person to their appointment
  • Observe physical distancing requirements in the dental office, before and after, treatment
  • Observe any other policies or procedures noted by your dental office
  • Wear a mask in the dental office until otherwise instructed by dental staff
  • Do not enter the clinic unless you have a scheduled appointment – to book an appointment, please contact us by telephone at (250) 862-3070 or by email [email protected]

The safety of our patients and team is our highest priority. In accordance with the BCDA Guidelines, we have enhanced our procedures and protocols through:

  • Daily employee health screening including temperature checks
  • If employees are at risk or have travelled, they are required to self-quarantine for 14 days prior to returning to work
  • Patient health screening including temperature checks
  • Mandatory masking and office social distancing
  • Common area sterilization
  • Enhanced Personal Protective Equipment
  • Team training on a variety of new protocols to limit virus spread
  • Plexiglass shields or masks where social distancing is not possible
  • Posters explaining social distancing and handwashing
  • Hand sanitizer for all patients on entrance and exit to clinic
  • Common areas (lobby, restrooms, door handles, reception desk) are cleaned every 2 hours or more frequently with disinfecting wipes (BC Guidelines indicate twice daily). Pens, clip boards and the debit terminals are wiped after each patient use
  • All magazines, books, and toys have been removed from lobbies and operatories.
  • Non-clinical personnel wear gloves and masks when disinfecting the common areas and interacting with patients.
  • Oral isolation and suction devices are utilized for all aerosol producing procedures.

*We appreciate our patients’ cooperation and understanding as we adhere to these strict safety protocols*
