A typical new patient exam includes diagnostic digital x-rays, intra oral photos, visual and palpable oral cancer screening, baseline measure of periodontal (gum) pockets and areas of recession. We will take the time to discuss and educate you regarding the current state of your oral health and will identify any areas that would help to improve it.

Radiographs (X-Ray)

We are outfitted with the latest in digital x-ray equipment. Digital sensors use up to 90 % less radiation than traditional film. X-rays are essential in diagnosing many oral health concerns such as some cancers, impacted teeth, abscesses, bone loss and decay that are not visible visually. X-rays are a critical component of a complete exam to ensure we are providing the best care for our patients.

Intra-oral Photos

An intra oral camera is a small toothbrush sized tool used to take photographs. We use this to take photos of areas of concern that can be seen visually to help communicate these concerns to you. Many of our patients are grateful to be able to see what we see and have it enlarged on our  television screens which are in each operatory.

Hygiene Services

While brushing and flossing at home make a tremendous difference, regular professional preventative services are an essential part of maintaining your oral health. At your regular customized scheduled visit with one of our regular registered dental hygienists, you should expect a gentle and thorough scaling and polishing of your teeth, regular measurement of periodontal (gum) pockets and any areas of recession, a head and neck exam, and a customized oral plan care for you to implement at home.

White Composite Fillings

At Burtch Dental we use the best materials available to get aesthetic and functional results. We use only tooth colored composite filling materials to ensure a precise color match to your teeth to restore your beautiful smile.

Crowns & Veneers

These are partial or complete coverage tooth restorations that are used to maintain the integrity and strength of the tooth. These may be made of porcelain, gold, zirconia, or a combination of metals, however they are always custom made to fit your existing teeth precisely.

Implants are often the best method for replacing a tooth. While being sturdy and natural feeling, implants will have you chewing and enjoying foods in the same way as a natural tooth. By placing a titanium post into the gum and jaw bone, an implant is held in place similar to a natural root. Capped with a crown that will match the colour of your existing teeth, implants will have you smiling and eating just like having natural teeth again.

This is another good solution for one, or multiple, missing teeth. A bridge is a tooth supported complete coverage restoration that will fill in the space left behind by a missing tooth. The false tooth (pontic) is custom made and colour matched to the surrounding existing teeth.

Complete, Partial, and Implant Supported Dentures

Do you have multiple missing teeth? One option that may be right for you is a complete or partial denture. A denture is a removable dental appliance replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissue. They are made to closely resemble your natural teeth and may even enhance your smile.

If you are dissatisfied with the position of your teeth, then perhaps you have considered having orthodontic treatment. We offer traditional bracketing procedures or Invisalign. Invisalign is a series of clear appliances that straighten your teeth without brackets or wires. Each “aligner” is worn for approximately 2 weeks easing you to your perfect smile.

Root Canals

There are many reasons why the pulp of a tooth may become infected. A root canal saves the tooth by removing the pulp and replacing it with an inert filling material. this removes the pain. Another way to describe a root canal is a permanent filling that simply reaches further down into the root of the tooth than a regular filling. If you have an infected and painful tooth, we will ensure that you are given any needed medications immediately to get the infection and pain under control so we can get you back to comfort as soon as possible.

Whether you require extraction due to impacted wisdom teeth or your tooth is damaged beyond repair, there are times when the only option is removal of a tooth. We take great care of you before, during, and after an extraction. By removing the tooth gently, we minimize the healing process and get you back to smiling as soon as possible. In some circumstances it may be best for you to be sedated, this is also a service that we can offer at Burtch Dental – just ask.

CBCT Scan (3D Imaging)

This is a special type of diagnostic digital x-ray machine that is used in situations where regular x-rays are give insufficient information. In cases such as orthodontics, implants, jaw tumors or impacted wisdom teeth, a CBCT scan provides for more precise treatment planning.

Dental Appliances

If you are wearing your teeth down from clenching or grinding your teeth, we can have a dental appliance such as a nightguard or sports guard custom made for you.

Pediatric Dentistry

Burtch Dental offers a family-friendly and welcoming atmosphere to ensure your child’s visit to the dentist is always a happy one. Our goal with pediatric dentistry is to establish a comfortable dental experience, while also providing the foundation for healthy oral habits. If your child requires sedation, we offer nitrous oxide, which is a safe and effective sedative agent.
